QTPOC Open Space

May Meeting Info:

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and The Center has a variety of programing in the next few weeks for Mental Health Awareness week (Link in pinned post)

This Thursdays QTPOC open space will honor our mental health by coming together for discussion, engage in self-care practices and leave with helpful tools.

We’ll start off with a group discussion about the stigmas of mental help and how it relates to QTPOC folks, ways in which we care for our mental health and people or places that bring us solace.

Following the discussion our co-facilitator, Alli Simon, will facilitate a 15 minutes meditation exercise along with offering positive self-care tools that we can take home.

Join us in this safe space where we will be gentle with the heart and the mind… together in community.

Side note: This is strictly a conversation space. Mental health professional will not be present for this discussion.

—————————
A safe(r) space for all Queer and Trans People of Color. Centering Queer and Trans Femmes of Color. The intention of this monthly group is to provide a space to build QTPOC community in Long Beach, by engaging in discussion and celebrating queer art and literature, having skill shares, offering healing & self-care practices, as well as other topics that specifically relate to our QTPOC experience and identity.

As a gentle reminder, this group is a safe space for queer and trans folks who self-identify as People of Color. We ask that white folks not attend in order to keep the space safe for those of us that do. If you are unsure whether or not you identify as a person of color, we ask that you search for resources online to help you with the exploration of that for yourself and respect the intention of the space we have created.
